Starting on the 21st September with Blast Theory’s piece ‘Rider Spoke’ a cycling experience that takes you on a dreamy journey through the city. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with Precarious’s break neck physicality at Circomedia.
Then from Saturday afternoon to Sunday night there is an entirely free programme of 32 shows and counting in St Pauls! We have programmed we hope a brilliant mix of thoughtful and beautiful work alongside raucous, experimental and participatory performance – some shows you see on your own, some with nine other people and some through a key hole….This year we have commissioned a lot of exciting new work from local artists in partnership with Theatre Bristol and Cirque Bijou. These fresh new pieces include a moonlit hiding place by China Blue Fish, a picnic theatre experience from Once, a roving festival cartoon duo who record the events of the festival and four new pieces by local young people.

We are also proud to have commissioned ‘The Ghosts of Portland Square’ a site specific phantasmagorical evening finale based on the history of Portland Square by Nathan Hughes. Finally Sugarbeast Circus will be delivering some surreal musings on circus at the Bristol Old Vic the week after.
